Mihai Grünfeld

Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies

Mihai Grünfeld obtained his B.A. in Spanish and French from University of Toronto, in Canada, his M.A. from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from University of California at Berkeley. At Vassar, he teaches in the Department of Hispanic Studies, is a participating faculty in the Latin American Studies Program. His research is on modern Latin American poetry, especially the Avant-Garde, and the intersection between literature and arts.

Mr. Grünfeld has published Antología de la poesía latinoamericana de vanguardia (1995) and articles on modernismo and the Avant-Garde. He is currently working on a book on the Avant-Garde, an autobiography (Leaving - Memories of Romania), and also doing research on the representation of indigenous cultures in Latin America.
